Trudi loves helping people
My family laughs at me because I’m always out helping people. I visited my mom everyday for 3 years while she was in a long term care facility. It was important to be able to tuck her in every night. Now my dad lives with me and I feel very blessed to have him, (he is 89, and has been with me for 6 years).
I really changed when my mom was placed in a long term care facility and I had to take care of her. After she passed away I had my dad come and live with me. I really became so much more nurturing after that and learned that people all need to be respected, loved and cared for. I spend as much time as I can with my daughters and grandchildren. It makes me feel so happy when I have them around. I just started volunteering with CARP, since I’m on my way to becoming a senior and so many of my clients already are. I feel it is so important to advocate for this group. I also spend as many weekends as possible at my brothers farm where we now have 15 horses (5 of them rescued from the meat market). I find there is nothing nicer than driving up the laneway and being greeted by 5 dogs and horses waiting for their apples.
